Andhra weaves, Vizag blouses
Visakhapatnam sits between two well-known Andhra handloom centres. To the north, Ponduru in Srikakulam district is famous for khadi woven from hand-spun cotton, and Ponduru cotton sarees are the district’s One District One Product. To the south, Uppada in East Godavari district weaves Jamdani silk sarees with supplementary-weft motifs.
Inside the city, Jagadamba Junction is a busy shopping area with saree and silk shops. Clients who buy an Uppada pattu or a Kanchi silk there usually need a blouse to match, often with heavy maggam (aari) work.
When the city is busiest
- Dasara. New clothes have long been part of the Dasara ritual in Telugu homes, for temple visits and family poojas.
- Sankranti. On the main day, Pedda Panduga, many families wear new clothes after Bhogi, when old things are burnt.
- Muhurtham dates. Wedding seasons bring bridal blouses, half-sarees and family orders, all due on one auspicious day.
Each of these piles maggam blouses onto the same few weeks.
Planning the maggam queue
Maggam work is slow and usually the bottleneck. VogueDesk lets you plan around it.
Stages you choose. Set your own production stages, such as cutting, maggam, stitching, hooks and ironing. Each garment moves through them one by one.
One karigar per stage. Each stage is assigned to a karigar. On the assignments board karigars see only their tasks and mark them started or done. See karigar management.
Real capacity. The capacity calendar adds up staff and contractor capacity. When a bride’s family asks for delivery before the muhurtham, VogueDesk can estimate a date from the workload already booked.
The 30-day view. The dashboard lists every delivery in the next 30 days.
Outside maggam karigars
Many Vizag boutiques send maggam work to home-based karigars. In VogueDesk:
- Add each karigar as a contractor.
- Create a contractor job with the agreed price.
- Mark the blouse sent out and, later, received.
- Print a job-work out or in challan.
- Pay from the contractor’s dues ledger.
Contractors can also have their own login to see their jobs. More on the job-work tracker.
Telugu on WhatsApp
Connect your own WhatsApp Business number through Meta’s official platform. VogueDesk sends messages when an order is created, ready, delivered or paid. Write the templates in Telugu, for example “మీ బ్లౌజ్ సిద్ధంగా ఉంది”, with the client name and order filled in. A delivery-location message asks the client to pin their address on a map. More on WhatsApp for boutiques.
Delivery across the city
From MVP Colony to Gajuwaka, sending a finished blouse is easier than asking a client to come back. Book a Shiprocket Quick or Porter delivery from the order (where those services cover your area), follow its status, and VogueDesk raises a delivery challan.
GST
GST invoices carry HSN/SAC codes and CGST/SGST, and you get GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-4 reports. Advances carry over to the invoice.
VogueDesk is online and works anywhere in Visakhapatnam. See pricing to start.
Frequently asked questions
Can I track maggam work done by an outside karigar?
Yes. Add the karigar as a contractor, record the job with its price, and mark the blouse sent and received. A job-work challan can go with it, and dues are kept in a ledger.
Can WhatsApp messages be in Telugu?
Yes. You write the templates, so Telugu works. Meta must approve templates for messages sent after the 24-hour window.
Can I deliver blouses to clients in other parts of the city?
Yes. From the order you can book a hyperlocal delivery with Shiprocket Quick or Porter where they serve your area, or a pan-India courier through Shiprocket, and track its status. The client can pin their location on a map.
Do you have a team in Visakhapatnam?
No. VogueDesk has no office, staff or partner in Vizag. It is online and works through the browser.
How much does it cost?
There is a Free plan at ₹0, then Boutique, Studio and Business at ₹499, ₹999 and ₹2,499 a month + GST, with a 14-day free trial of Studio for every new account. Enterprise is custom priced.
