Paithani country
The Paithani saree, with its silk body and zari peacock pallu, is Maharashtra’s best-known weave. It holds a Geographical Indication (2010), and the Nashik district administration lists Paithani as the district’s One District One Product, with Yeola as a major weaving hub. Weavers were moved from Paithan to Yeola in the Peshwa era, and the town has made Paithani ever since.
