Running a Chandigarh boutique without the order register

VogueDesk is online boutique software that works for tailors and boutiques in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. It keeps client measurements, suit and lehenga orders, karigar work, outside embroidery jobs, GST bills and WhatsApp updates in one place, in your phone's browser.

What a Chandigarh boutique deals with

Chandigarh’s ethnic-wear trade sits around two kinds of market. Sector 17 is the planned, fixed-price shopping plaza with branded and local ethnic wear. Shastri Market in Sector 22 is the busier, bargain-friendly lane where people buy cotton salwar suits, phulkari dupattas and Punjabi juttis. Plenty of clients buy a suit piece or phulkari dupatta in one of these markets and then walk into a boutique in a nearby sector to get it stitched.

That means a typical tricity boutique handles:

  • Punjabi suits and patiala salwars in large numbers, often with matching dupatta work.
  • Phulkari and other hand embroidery, which is usually done by an outside karigar, not in the shop.
  • Two big pressure points: the Teej and Karva Chauth weeks, when married women want a new suit by a fixed date, and the winter Punjabi wedding months, when one family can order six or eight outfits together.

Fixed festival dates need real capacity

Karva Chauth has one date. A suit that comes a day late is a lost client. The problem in most shops is not skill; it is that nobody can see, in one view, how many suits are already promised for that week.

In VogueDesk each order has an order date, a start date and a delivery date, and one order can hold several garments, so a family’s three suits and a lehenga stay together. Each garment moves through your own stages, such as cutting, stitching, embroidery, finishing and ironing. The capacity calendar counts your staff and contractors and shows which days are full. When a new client asks for delivery before Karva Chauth, the app can estimate a date from the current workload instead of a guess.

The dashboard also lists every delivery due in the next 30 days, so the cutting master can see what is coming before the rush, not during it.

Phulkari and embroidery sent outside

Hand phulkari is slow work, and most boutiques send it to a home-based worker or a small embroidery unit. That is where garments get lost: who has the dupatta, since when, and how much is owed?

VogueDesk’s job-work tracker lets you add outside workers as contractors and record each job with an agreed price. You mark when a garment goes out and when it comes back, and a job-work delivery challan can be raised for the movement. Contractor dues and payments are kept in one ledger, so at month-end you pay what the record shows. Contractors also count in the capacity calendar, so the slow embroidery step is part of the delivery date, not a surprise.

WhatsApp in Punjabi, Hindi or English

Most tricity clients already message the boutique on WhatsApp. VogueDesk connects your own WhatsApp Business number through Meta’s official platform and can send messages automatically when an order is created (with a tracking link), when it is ready, when it is delivered and when a payment comes in.

You write the templates, with placeholders like client name, order name and delivery date. A short Punjabi line such as “ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸੂਟ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ” works as well as English. Read more on WhatsApp for boutiques.

Bills, GST and the advance

Wedding orders usually come with a big advance. In VogueDesk the advance on an order carries onto the invoice, and partial payments show on the order and invoice lists. If you are GST-registered, invoices carry HSN/SAC codes and your GSTIN, and you get GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B reports. Payments can be cash, UPI, card, bank transfer or cheque.

Getting started

VogueDesk is online, so there is nothing to install and nobody needs to come to your sector. Sign up, add your first few clients and measurements, and send one order through the stages. If you have years of measurements in Excel, save the sheet as CSV and the import tool maps your columns. See pricing for the plans.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a VogueDesk office in Chandigarh?

No. VogueDesk is an online product. You sign up on the website and use it from any phone, tablet or computer in the tricity, so you do not need anyone to visit your shop.

Can my Mohali and Chandigarh shops share one account?

Yes, on the Business plan you can run more than one brand or label under one account, each with its own settings. Staff only see what their role allows, so a counter person at one shop does not see the other shop's payments.

Can WhatsApp order updates go out in Punjabi?

Yes. You write the message templates yourself, so the text can be in Punjabi (Gurmukhi), Hindi or English. Meta has to approve templates that start a chat after 24 hours.

How do I handle the Karva Chauth rush?

Enter each order with a real delivery date as soon as the client pays the advance. The capacity calendar then shows which days are already full, so you can say no, or quote a later date, before you over-promise.

Does it work for a boutique run from home in a Chandigarh sector?

Yes. The Free plan (₹0) covers one login and 30 orders a month, with unlimited clients, which is enough to try it. Paid plans start at ₹499 a month + GST, and every new account gets a 14-day free trial of Studio with no card.
